Sure, they fight like siblings – but for the most part we can see a really deep connection between our children. They truly love each other, watch out for each other, and like to be around each other. The day after Thanksgiving, when Tobin was about to leave the house with his sitter and Mika had the day off from school, she said “i don’t want to stay home with you guys … i want to be with Tobin!” and joined them for the day. This morning, they woke up at 7:00 am and just cracked each other up for half an hour. Once Tobin got out of his crib, they played until almost 9:00 am without even bothering us once.

You know what? This morning, they fought again big time. But yes, the big picture is a very nice one. We take only partial credit for it though, because once they know how to share and play nicely, they still need to have personalities that ‘click’.

Little stuff … like Mika trying to boss Tobin around and tell him what (not) to do, or Tobin taking Mika’s CD choice out of the player and playing his own. They yell at each other and also hit if they run out of words/arguments.

Thank goodness the basic concept of sharing is not an issue anymore. They take turns with their toys almost all the time, which is pretty good considering we have a two-year-old in the house.

The first picture looks like a coupla university friends discussing the latest Godard film in a Parisian cafe. Fantastic. Only thing missing are the cigarettes…
