Girls’ Day Out … At The Nutcracker

December 30th, 2009 by ninja

Mika and i went to see ‘The Nutcracker‘ at Lincoln Center, also known as THE Nutcracker. The 2 1/2 hour run time were a bit daunting in the past years, but at 5 years old Mika wasn’t just able to stay awake during the entire performance, she was literally on the edge of her seat the whole time. When asked what she liked best about our the performance, she replied “everything!” … which also extends to the spectacular hallways, the snacks during intermission, the fountain outside, the evening cab ride home, and her very own “Nutcracker” tree ornament to remember the first ballet performance.

Wow, Mika is old enough to do Mommy + daughter things now :) How awesome is that? The stage looks amazing…colors are brilliant! Happy New Year again Ninjette!!

SO glad to hear it was a success! Olivia really wants/wanted to go…I just didn’t think she would manage the run time, and I don’t want to do a short-version. NEXT year, we’ll hit the town for our first Nutcracker. If you are wanting to go again, we’ll coordinate!

    Oh, that would be fantastic!
I was worried about the run time as well, but all scenes are visually so very different, captivating, and SHORT, that it feels like a collection of appetizers rather than one big, heavy main dish … metaphorically speaking. We’ll definitely go again if you’re going. Girls’ day out all the way :)
