Horizon

March 1st, 2010 by ninja

This afternoon, Mika brought an armful of artwork home from school. I love this one in particular, where the class has been introduced to the concept of “horizon lines” for the first time.

Is it a collage? The trees are popping out!! Nice, love the colors she chose.

Yes, it’s a collage. They used white crayon and watercolors to paint a landscape, then drew (birch?) trees, cut them out, and glued them on top. I think it’s an exercise to show the kids how objects in the foreground can obstruct the horizon, but it continues nevertheless in the distance.

This should be framed for their room.
