Happy Coney Island Day!

May 31st, 2010 by ninja

Sunday was Day Two of our Memorial Day Weekend Extravaganza with the Lee-Alto clan: we started with an early lunch at Nathan’s, followed by a visit to the newly re-opened Luna Park. It was too hot and sunny to go on more than a handful of kiddie rides, but everybody got their favorites covered. Tobin barely met the height requirement for his solo motorcycle ride, and was beaming with pride after he had completed many rounds of roaring fun. Most of the afternoon was spent on the beach with our own picnic (featuring lots of fresh fruit and a selection of Mazzola’s breads). The grand finale: dinner at The Good Fork in Red Hook, followed by ice cream at Blue Marble.

Today, we just chilled at home, cleaned the house, and ate leftovers. Happy Memorial Day, everybody!

Funny that you mention the bikini. I always thought that two piece bikinis are *ridiculous* for young girls (why cover up a flat chest?), but Mika has been begging me for a two piece since last Summer.

It’s something that doesn’t harm her body (like pierced ears, which i won’t allow), so i figured it’s OK to let her wear one if that is such a big deal to her. She couldn’t be happier…

I wish you could’ve been here as well! The boardwalk still looks much the same as it did all those years we went, but Luna Park got 12 (!!) shiny new rides and a general overhaul. Pretty cool.
