New Style

For a while, Mika simply left off colors in her drawings to save time … but recently, she developed a new style that’s more observant. There are subtle uses of perspective and many whimsical details (did you notice the pigeons on the roof of the house across the street, which the big cat is observing?). There are still plenty of remnants from the stereotypical preschool drawings though … i.e. those funny heart people she introduced on Valentine’s Day two years ago.

Good question … especially now that there are TWO kids producing artwork almost daily. I keep milestones (first potatoheads, first fingers, etc), my personal favorites, and a few of the kids favorites (that didn’t align with mine).

3-D works have a higher possibility of being chucked, but i try to take good pictures of them. It really helps to edit further after a whole year has passed … and do so without the kids present. I have extra folders for them, where i put those works they really cared about but that didn’t make the cut for the main archive.
