Tobin’s group of Lego birds is eight members strong now, and I still keep them next to my desk so they’re not getting disassembled by accident. Every few days, Tobin recruits them to fight his Ninjago “bad guys”. The narrative of these battles has gotten pretty complex, so I interviewed him to find out the specific roles and superpowers he has assigned to his birds.

Tobin has started to build a distinct new crop of home made Lego action figures, moving on from his flock of fighter birds to mini robots. As always, they interact with all the store bought Minifig folks…

Remember Tobin’s Lego ducks from last year?  I sneaked them out of the general brick building zone (the “Legoland”), and kept them safe at my desk until … Tobin requested both ducks back today as props for his new kind of bird: The Predator! This superbird has jet engine wings, big claws on his feet, shoots fire out of a hole in his belly, and has an overall fierce attitude.
