Mika got her first ever filling at the dentist today. While she was waiting for the procedure to start, she let Tobin lie on the chair as well so he could watch the cartoon playing overhead. Once it was time to get down to business, he had to sit on the sidelines though. The good news: nowadays, dentists don’t drill without local anesthesia anymore. The bad news: the numbed gums and cheek freaked her out a little anyway, but she was a trooper and earned a bunch of stickers and a new necklace.

The sunglasses are provided by the dentist, so the kids don’t have to squint while looking at the TV overhead.

Yes, a molar. Last year, i had let her brush all by herself for a while and that was probably a bad idea. She had the onset of cavities in 3 of her molars, and although we brushed together diligently ever since, they turned into little cavities. This was the first filling, and she has to go back for two more.
