This year, we were able to visit one of my oldest friends again in Ludwigsburg. Sophie and i met 1972 in preschool<\/a>, when we were about the same age as Tobin and her son Robin. Fast forward about 40 years, and our friendship extends to each others family. It is always a special treat to spend a few days together.<\/p>\n

Tobin was as excited as Bruno<\/a> to be riding the ICE<\/a> again. Thanks to a well packed bag of snacks and entertainment, the almost 6 hour ride went by reasonably fast (last hour treat: watching a movie on the ipod). Mika still remembered our first visit to Schloss Ludwigsburg<\/a> two years ago (a real princess castle!), and was a little bummed we didn’t tour the inside of the building again. The kids had a fantastic time in the baroque garden maze<\/a> though, and discovered the M\u00e4rchengarten<\/a> with little rides based on Grimm’s fairy tales. On the other two days, we explored the immediate neighborhood, played at home in the garden, made various freezer pops, and had a great BBQ. Thank you Sophie and Frank for making us feel right at home … and thank you Robin for so generously sharing your toys, books, garden, and parents.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
