This year’s Fleet Week<\/em> was even more fabulous due to OpSail<\/a> bringing a variety of historic sailboats and military ships to three locations in New York. Most of them – over 10! – literally docked in our back yard at Piers 7 and 8<\/a> of the Marine Terminal, Brooklyn. We went for two separate strolls on this increasingly hot Memorial Day weekend (88\u00b0F\/31\u00b0C … felt like 95\u00b0\/35\u00b0C due to humidity)<\/em>. At this age, the kids’ enthusiasm for big guns is still unrelated to an otherwise pacifist upbringing, but in the end, a broken water pipe on the Pier trumped it all.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
