Happy (Belated) Birthday, Luna!

June 25th, 2008 by ninja

On June 21, 2002 we found Luna near the downtown Manhattan heliport and gave her a new home – more than two years before Mika was born! Although the ‘kitten’ was roughly 10 months old back then, the beginning of our new life together is always worthy of a little ‘Birthday’ celebration.

As you can see, Mika likes to draw pictures of Luna (complete with pointy ears, whiskers, five limbs, ample claws, tail) and herself (with green hair, dress, big hands with loopy fingers and dotted finger nails).

Hahn im Korb*

June 24th, 2008 by ninja

(*Rooster in the Basket … German saying for being the only male in a group of females)

While Mika was in school, Tobin came along for a quick visit to the Litt-Coles. The girls enjoyed squeezing a baby, and the baby enjoyed his moment of undivided attention.

Swingwich

June 22nd, 2008 by ninja

On our long stroll through Brooklyn Heights with Cynthia and puppy Linea, Mika and Tobin tried various ways of sharing a swing together. According to Tobin, the bucket swing works best. His second great discovery of the afternoon: there are other furry pals besides Luna to squeeze. Thanks to Linea for being exceptionally gentle and lenient. To be continued!

Rockin’ With Audra

June 21st, 2008 by ninja

On a perfectly sunny mid-summer Saturday, Audra Rox and band were playing a free concert at Mika’s main stomping ground, Carroll Park. She loved the music and her ‘Audra Rox’ tattoo, but got a bit intimidated when asked to show it off next to Audra’s real inked arm.

Swedish Midsummer Celebration

June 20th, 2008 by ninja

A big shout-out goes to Sooki and Johan at the eve of Swedish Midsummer Celebration! They can now participate in the real thing, but over here the next best thing to a ticket to Sweden is a subway ride to Battery Park. The smörgåsbord was jättegott, the music and flower reefs beautifully authentic, and the weather held up just long enough for a perfect summer evening. Even Tobin partied all the way, trying to eat every reef within reach.

Guess Who’s Ready for Ballet?

June 18th, 2008 by ninja

Following in the footsteps of her older girlfriends Chloe, Elsie, and Esmé, big girl Mika started her first ballet class today. In anticipation, she had been wearing her little leotard around the house for the past days…

Since it’s a drop-off class, i could only snap a few pictures while the girls were waiting for the session to begin. Six weeks from today, parents will be allowed to sit in the whole time.

Mika started adding teeth to her smiling faces.
Somehow the new look seems oddly familiar … ?

If Only He Could Talk…

… but Mika has long, deep conversations with Tobin nevertheless.

Happy 4th Birthday, Esmé!

June 13th, 2008 by ninja

Talking about a full schedule: with her baby sister arriving later tonight or tomorrow, Esme celebrated her 4th birthday with a gym extravaganza. Mika loved jumping on the trampoline and whacking her first piñata. And of course the sweet, sweet sugar rush!

Father’s Day

June 12th, 2008 by sung

We celebrated Father’s Day early at Choo Choo Train with a breakfast, a special t-shirt designed by Mika and some choreographed line dancing with all of the kids. It was a special treat playing in the garden with all of the kids and other dads.

Who’s Yo Mama?

June 11th, 2008 by ninja

On our last visit to Chinatown before Bruno’s trip to Germany, we decided to mix things up a little… Have a great trip and don’t let Karl drink you under the table in Munich’s beer gardens.
