Spring Training II
Tobin and Bruno are training to join Karl at the “Diaperpant Rockets” this season. They still have to work on their tackling skills, but the team spirit is way up high.

On his first trip to Germany, Tobin met his great grandmother “Omi Hilde”. He helped celebrate her 87th Birthday on March 31st and spent a total of 4 days at her house in Bremen. As you can see, they had a special bond right away.
More pictures from Bremen (and Hamburg) soon!

Mika attended her first baseball game ever today: Yankees vs. Tampa Bay. Unfortunately, the Yankees lost, but at least she can say that she saw a game at the old Yankee Stadium (it’ll be torn down at the end of the season). And she took home a pink Yankees cap with scratch ‘n sniff strawberries on them.

Continuing the adventures while mommy and Tobin are away, we headed to Coney Island to fly a kite. It was a very windy but sunny day, so it didn’t take us long to get the kite up, soaring almost as high as the Parachute Jump. We had fun running in the sand, playing on the rocks, and eating at Nathan’s. Since they’re famous for their hot dogs, Mika opted to eat the… corn on the cob!

Mika went to her first circus today. Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus were in town and she got to enjoy clowns, jugglers, acrobats, tigers, ponies, elephants, dogs, motorcycles and cotton candy. Afterwards, we celebrated at home with our very own clown noses.

Mika was singing ‘Mr. Sun’ when out of nowhere, Wallie came and whacked her on the head. As you can see, Wallie is quite an intimidating bully.

Mika drew a mommy and daddy giraffe at school today. Even though they have octopus feet, there’s no mistaking the long necks. Big smiles help too.

What a little nap time can do: both Mika and Kai left school well rested (for once!) and had a blast all the way to (and at) the playground. They kept screaming “we are the gate!” and would open the sidewalk only after our pleading requests. So far we’re rolling toll-free though…

Interesting typography Mika came up with this morning. She asked me how the words are being spelled, but i didn’t look at the composition until she was done writing. A few weeks ago, she would occasionally place the letters right-to-left or in random positions … but now she’s clearly in control of the (art) direction.

After Tobin had put in multiple crib expansion requests, his family finally took action. Mika helped a lot throughout the process: following basic construction, she evicted all wild animals/monsters that had temporarely taken over. Then she invited Tobin for a test ride in ‘rocking mode’. He approved the new size as well as his stylish (bargain) sheets. Sweet dreams!

We didn’t celebrate Easter like the Germans (as a federal 4-day holiday weekend), but did a round of egg painting at home nevertheless…

Easter weekend got kicked off with the annual egg hunt at Brooklyn Bridge Park in DUMBO. We walked over with Tyler and his parents, but lost them in the crowd soon after we entered the park. Inside, we managed to meet up with Kai and Tomoko (see above) and bumped into a few other friends. Audra Rox gave a rockin’ performance and had all the tots dancing and jumping…
