Mika decided to make tummy time a lot more fun for Tobin. So much fun indeed, that he completely exhausted himself trying to hold his head steady while laughing his popo off. The movie starts about midway through the process.
The first photo shows how much Tobin has grown already: a week ago he measured 27 inches (68.6 cm) and weighed in at 15 lbs 8 oz (7 kg). Time flies … he’s 5 months old today.
PS: Thank you Sarah for the cute fish dress! Hopefully we’ll be able to wear it without all the winter layers soon.
We’ve been wondering whether Tobin’s hair is going to settle down at any point … but it’s still standing up strong at almost 3 inches (7+ centimeters).
At 1 inch his hair looked like he rubbed a few balloons on his head … at 2 inches we suspected him playing with electric outlets in his spare time … but now he graduated to a full Moritz ‘do! He even grew those wispy signature ‘sideburns’ but they have been trimmed earlier this month.
Bruno and Tobin made their first trip uptown – way uptown – to visit Adrienne in her hood. They were considerate enough to take a long nap and let this perfect day be a bit of a girl’s get-together too.
Mika wrote her first full sentence, “why are you here”, in the back of her German book “Die Grosse Frage (The Big Question)”. In the book, various people and creatures try to find an answer to the (big) question why we are in this world. In the back are a few note pages where kids are supposed to write down their own answers…
Apparently there can be too much air pressure on a bugaboo frog tire … there is no other explanation for the explosion/burst that ripped into one of our tubes. I guess i should’ve used my hand pump and not the compressed air hose at the bike store :-P
Anyway, it was a valuable lesson for Mika on how to fix things around the house. She helped with every step, even pumped (a reasonable amount of) air back into the tire when we were done. Tomorrow, the stroller will be back in business.
Although the Shake Shack opened for business unseasonably early in February this year, it took Tobin and me a few weeks to make it into Manhattan to have our first Shack snack of the season (lunch with daddy!). Tobin didn’t show any interest in solids yet, but consulted me on the frozen custard flavor: classic vanilla with hot fudge sauce.
Something’s in the air. Tobin has been in the worst of moods all day, which is really unusual for him. He wants to make us believe he’s ‘just teething’ … but i smell a conspiracy with Karl, who has been uprising a few times already.
Tobin and i had a casual lunch with Cynthia to celebrate her days between jobs. He was flirting up a storm, but the object of his biggest affection was the baby on the other side of the mirror…
When Mika doesn’t hang out with Omi Hilde’s bunny in the ‘bunny hole’ (aka laundry hamper), she continues her obsession with letters and writing. I got her a wholesale bag of letter beads near Koreatown. The first bracelet she wanted to spell out was “MIKA NEEDS COOKIES” … hint, hint. Of course, that would have to be Letter-of-the-Day cookies. Also, she documented the presence of all family members with a role call (no spelling assistance here) and drew a nice portrait of Luna.
… well, it really doesn’t matter as long as you’re happy with your life. It was especially nice to share this moment with a handful of long-time friends and our kids. Thank you Sung for taking off all day and cooking such an amazing dinner! Thank you Mika for baking Dora’s Banana Nut Chocolate Cake all by yourself!
