Mika’s eyes darkened around 9-12 months of age, so Tobin might get a different color as well.  We’ll see about a year from now…

As many of you know too well, getting kids to sleep on schedule is a complicated science. It is virtually impossible to sync a 3-month-old who is barely developing his nap schedule with a 3-year-old who decided naptime isn’t her thing anymore (although she needs it badly). Every once in a while, the impossible happens: both kids fall asleep on the way back from preschool and stay asleep inside our apartment … only a few more minutes in Tobin’s case, but Mika extended her stroller nap to a full 2 hours. Yay.

Tobin’s first big celebration was held in Baltimore, MD at Halmoni and Harabogi’s house. The whole Korean side of the family came together for his Baek-Il. Please check the Galleries page later this week for a special entry. Until then, you can go back in time 3 years and look at Mika’s Baek-Il.

Mika insists on sharing her heart blanket in the morning with Tobin – no grownups allowed in. Also, the other day she told him about all the things that she would like to teach him (walking, talking, etc.). She was going on with her monologue for a while, then looked seriously down at the drooling little guy in his bouncy seat and said: “Tobin, you HAVE to grow UP!”

Sabine stopped by for a few hours with Tobin’s buddy Bruno. They even joined us for pickup at Mika’s school.

 
Luna likes to pretend there are no kids in the house. In the few precious hours minutes, while Mika is in school and Tobin asleep, she sneaks into the kids’ room to play with their toys. Or take a nap. Alright, just to take a nap.

Today we drove up to Garrison, NY to visit Arturo, Doris, and Santiago. Mika got very excited about the traces of snow that were lining the Palisades Parkway. Unfortunately, it was way too cold to play outside. Instead there was a lot of good food, drawing, playing … and customizing the XO laptop.

Mika and Luna had a great after-school playdate at our house.

We made it over to Chinatown/LES again to hang with Bruno and his family. Last time, the guys slept right through their playdate. This time, they managed to stay awake for about 5 minutes at the *same* time … but we had to act fast to get some evidence. Bruno wasn’t too supportive of the paparazzi on empty stomach though and demanded immediate service.
